Project Page:  D29-4, Beveled Oval Victorian Door

A small mantle of dentil moulding has been added to the lock rail of this oak door.  Three panels were placed in the bottom portion of the door to accommodate the unusual width.  The upper panel uses splined miter joints to eliminate the splitting that may result from "short grain" (when an oval is cut out of a vertically laminated panel.)  The 3/8" beveled plate glass has been safety laminated.  This door is a terrific blend of traditional design and modern technology.
